The Crumpler family has farmed, ranched, raised and trained their own cutting horses since the 1960's. Therefore, Dillon was born into a cutting horse dynasty. Dillon's grandfather Paul and his father Craig are both Hall of Fame members and have won numerous titles throughout their career. Therefore, the family knowledge, support and drive behind Dillon has made him the person that he is today. Dillon grew up horseback whether it was checking cattle with his dad or getting a horse ready to work for his Uncle Don, his life was consumed with cutting and the cowboy way of life. During those years he thrived on breaking and starting the family's two year olds. The first horse that he was allowed to train all the way through was Santana Times Two. Craig showed him at the Futurity in 2002, and since then, Santana Times Two has gone on to earn a lifetime earnings of $151,025.96 as of 2007. By the time he was 21 years old, he had decided that training cutting horses was his passion and he was ready to become a trainer full time. In 2003, Dillon made the Open Limited Finals on Sweet Hickory Mirada and finished third. In 2004 Steve Anderson and Jon Burgess gave Dillon his first job away from the family ranch. Dillon worked out of Jon's place in Whit, Texas. Dillon had a wonderful learning experience there, but was given the opportunity of a lifetime to train for James Wood in Decatur. Mr. Wood gave Dillon the opportunity to show good horses and train the best bred colts. Dillon did quite well on Dually Pepper for her four year old year. He increased her life earnings to just over $22,900. In the fall of 2005, Dillon made two huge steps in his life. He got married to long time girlfriend Kelly McGhee and decided to train for multiple customers and take in outside horses. Dillon has customers everywhere from Canada to Georgia and El Paso to South Carolina. Dillon's patience, soft voice and sense of humor allow him to not only train a great horse, but to train great amateurs and non-pros. He has a current life time earnings of $97,824.79 and has only been training and showing full time since 2003. His family's cumulative NCHA Earnings are to date $1,476,345.00. He trains a horse that is easy to show and he is so knowledgeable that he is able to break down the steps that will make you a great showman.
